R.P. Mandal is New CS of Chhattisgarh.

Senior Indian Administrative Service Officer R.P. Mandal has been appointed as the new Chief Secretary of Chhattisgarh state. His appointment to this post was cleared by issuing an administrative order to Guswar on behalf of the state government. The current Chief Secretary of the state Sunil Kumar Kujur is retiring from his post today 31.10.2109. R.P. Mandal will succeed him as new Chief Secretary. Mandal,who is a 1987 batch IAS officer, originally hails from Bilaspur and has held the post of Collector in several districts of undivided Madhya Pradesh.

After the formation of the state of Chhattisgarh, he got the Chhattisgarh cadre in the division of the cadre and after that he was also the collector in Bilaspur and Raipur. He has been Secretary in many key departments including Divisional Revenue, Tribal Development, Panchayat, Lok Nirman, Forest, Labor Department. Even after reaching the rank of secretary, the government made him the collector of Raipur. He has his schooling from Multipurpose Higher Secondary School, Bilaspur.

He did his BE in Electrical from Raipur Engineering College. After this he did MTech from Kharagpur IIT. After this, he passed the IAS examination, Mandal became the CS, and his batch mate CK Khaitan has been made the chairman of the revenue board.

Ajay Singh, a 1983-batch senior officer, who has been the chairman of the revenue board, now he has been appointed as the Deputy Chairman of the State Planning Commission. Apart from these, IAS officer Manoj Kumar Pigua has been freed from the transport department and made the commissioner of the forest department. Bhuvanesh Yadav has been appointed Commissioner of Health Services. Subrata Sahu has been made the Secretary of the Home Department in Chhattisgarh.
