P.K. Satpathy addresses the Industry Academia Meet

July 26, 2021, Hyderabad: P.K. Satpathy, Director (Production), NMDC, was the special
guest at the Industry Academia Meet conducted by the Department of Mining Engineering, AKS University, at Satna, Madhya Pradesh. Apart from addressing the students and academia, he also visited Diamond Mining Project at Panna and the exploration sites of NMDC in Madhya Pradesh. P.K. Satpathy interacted with the students of the university and briefed them on the working model and recruitment design of the companies to apprise them about industry standards and norms.In his interaction with the students and the faculty members, he shared his transformative journey in the Mines and Minerals industry. He mentioned that these four countries -Australia, China, India, and Brazil are the major players of the global mining industry and the Indian states of Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, and Jharkhand are the frontrunners in
representing the nation in the field of mining. He stressed on the need for India to work on skill-training of the students, the future of our workforce, through the addition of new techniques in the syllabus and tuning it to meet the industry benchmark. P.K. Satpathy remarked, “The mining industry is responsible for both conservation of minerals and development of the mines. NMDC believes that sustainability is the key to a sturdy future of the iron and steel sector. Our state-of-the-art technology helps us achieve this fine balance between exploitation of natural resources and conserving nature.” He further highlighted that NMDC, sensitive to the needs of the community, has built a comprehensive CSR programme for the economic and social development of the stakeholders especially in the states of Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka.
