SAIL’s story writing competition aimed to create awareness on steel usage; results of competition announced

New Delhi, 28th August, 2020: The Nation’s largest steel producing Company, Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) has announced the results today of its All India Open – SAIL Story Writing Competition–2020, “My Steel Story”. SAIL is taking several innovative steps to create awareness about enhancing steel usage and promoting steel products across the Country. This story writing competition was an initiative by the Company to create awareness amongst people on steel uses. The competition’s theme ‘SAIL creates a meaningful difference in people’s lives’ both in Hindi and English languages, encouraged participants to share their experiences about SAIL and how the steelmaker is changing or adding meaningful difference to the lives of people.

The winners of the competition, which was launched in January, 2020, were declared on the Company’s social media handles of ‘facebook’ and ‘Youtube’ by Anil Kumar Chaudhary, Chairman, SAIL today. The competition saw a huge participation and an overwhelming number of entries were received from across the country. The entries reflected on how SAIL had made a meaningful difference in people’s lives and how steel, as people’s material, could play a crucial role in the Nation building.

Tarun Kumar Soni of Chhattisgarh won the first prize in the Hindi category while the first prize in English category was won by Mr. Debadatta Satpathy of Odisha. The list of the winners of the competition is given Hindi Category:
1st Prize –Tarun Kumar Soni, Chhattisgarh
2nd Prize (Joint Winners)- Lokanath Sahu, Chhattisgarh, Animika Sahai, Uttar Pradesh
3rd Prize (Joint Winners) Ms Nitu Kumari, West Bengal, Abhayshwar Sahai, Uttar Pradesh

in the English Category
1st Prize -Debadatta Satpathy, Odisha
2nd Prize -Rajib Banerjee, Jharkhand
3rd Prize -Shobhit Kumar Singh, Uttar Pradesh.

In addition, 15 stories have been selected for the consolation prizes. All the winners of the story writing competition will be awarded with SAIL’s branded Salem Stainless Steel sets comprising of various items. Besides this, all the participants will also be given an appreciation certificate. The award-winning stories will be published in SAIL’s publications.

While announcing the results, Anil Kumar Chaudhary, Chairman, SAIL congratulated the winners and said, “We read a lot of stories, but the real story is one that gives a new shape to people’s lives and makes their dreams come true. During its 60 years journey of steel production, SAIL has connected not only the Country from one corner to another corner, but has also connected the hearts of the people of India with each other”. He added, “A huge number of entries were received from all over the Country and this proves that SAIL has truly lived upto its tagline “There’s a little bit of SAIL in everybody’s life”.
