Amid the news of joining politics, Raipur Collector, O P Choudhary resigns, may join BJP

Raipur: IAS Officer of Chhsttisgarh cadre who is presently posted as Raipur District Collector OP Chaudhary has resigned from his post amid reports of the state’s ruling party joining the BJP. A senior official said that OPS Chaudhary, the 2005 batch officer of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), has submitted his resignation to the Department of Personnel and Training. Nonetheless, Chaudhary could not be available to comment on this.
According to media reports, the official is likely to join the BJP. The BJP has not ratified it yet. The party has said that if he joins the party he is welcome. Assembly elections will be held in Chhattisgarh later this year. Chaudhary is credited for making changes in education system in Naxal-affected district of Dantewada of the state. There are reports that he can contest from Kharsia in the coming assembly elections by joining the BJP. This seat is the seat of Congress in Raigad district. Chaudhari’s ancestral town is there.
